What we do

Concrete Repair Services in Albuquerque

We repair, level and resurface concrete for homes and businesses in Albuquerque, NM. Cracks and holes, spalling and chipping, stains, uneven surfaces and worn finishes all come under repair, and a sunken slab can be lifted rather than replaced.

The services below are the concrete repair work we take on, each with a short card.

  • A sunken walkway slab being lifted level with foam injected through small ports

    Concrete Leveling

Concrete leveling lifts a sunken slab back to grade by pumping material underneath it. The trade calls it "slabjacking"; you may know it as mudjacking or foam leveling, and it saves a tear-out.

  • A squeegee pulling a thin gray overlay across a worn patio slab

    Concrete Resurfacing

Concrete resurfacing bonds a thin new layer, an "overlay", over sound but worn concrete instead of replacing it. It suits slabs that are solid underneath but look old on top.

  • A new sidewalk panel poured flush between older panels

    Sidewalk Repair

Sidewalk repair removes raised, cracked or crumbling sections of a concrete walk that create trip hazards, and replaces them flush with the panels either side.

    Concrete Driveway Repair and Replacement

We repair cracked and sunken concrete driveways and replace them when the damage is too widespread to repair. Small cracks can usually be fixed; large shifting areas usually call for a new driveway.

  • A textured cool-deck coating being troweled around a backyard pool

    Pool Deck Resurfacing

Pool deck resurfacing repairs a concrete pool deck and covers it with a cooler, slip-resistant coating. "Kool Deck" is the polymer cement overlay most people ask for by name.

  • A roller laying an epoxy base coat across a freshly ground garage floor

    Garage Floor Coating

Garage floor coating grinds and repairs a garage slab and seals it under an epoxy or polyurea coating. The whole floor is diamond ground first to strip dirt, oil and stains so the coating bonds.

  • A stone-pattern stamp mat pressed into fresh colored concrete

    Stamped Concrete

Stamped concrete is colored concrete pressed with a pattern, and we repair and reseal it as well as pour it. Resealing means pressure washing, letting it dry and rolling on fresh sealer.

  • A back patio slab with a crack patched and ground flush

    Concrete Patio Repair

We repair cracked, sunken and worn concrete patios by patching, leveling or resurfacing them, whichever the slab needs. A patio that is sound underneath rarely needs to come out.

  • concrete slab crack repair with patching compound

    Concrete Slab Repair

We repair cracked, chipped and spalled concrete slabs inside and outside homes and businesses, from a shop floor to a back step. Repair covers interior and exterior concrete surfaces alike.

Why it happens

Concrete Damage in Albuquerque's Climate and Soil

Freeze-thaw cycles, intense heat and expansive or poorly compacted soil can crack, flake and sink concrete in Albuquerque. Winter nights drop below freezing while the days warm, summer sun bakes a slab, and the dry sandy ground under it shifts when it gets wet or was never packed firm, so the slab moves, the surface weathers and the damage shows up as cracks, flaking and sunken corners.

None of that means the slab has to come out. Most of what we see is a sound slab with a damaged spot, and a damaged spot is a repair. The American Concrete Institute sets the standards for crack control, curing and repair that this work follows.

Cracks in Concrete

Concrete cracks when soil movement, temperature swings, water or heavy loads stress it past what the slab is built to carry. Poor installation and plain wear do the rest. A straight crack along a "control joint" is doing its job; a random, widening or heaved crack is the kind to call about.

Spalling and Flaking Concrete

"Spalling" is surface flaking that often follows freeze-thaw damage or a weak surface. You would call it flaking, pitted or chipped concrete. Moisture in the pores of the slab expands and contracts, weakening the top until it flakes away, and the fix is to cut back to sound concrete and restore the surface.
